Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, despite the name, actually has little to do with chocolate. Instead, the movie focuses on how people can easily be tricked into doing something because of temptations. Although Willy Wonka doesn’t admit it, the tour of his factory is an experiment on the human race. Wonka is testing people’s character and their vulnerability to manipulation (or not, in the case of Charlie Bucket).
There are several real-life examples of people who exhibit a personality similar to Wonka’s. Tucker Carlson happened to come to mind, and I ultimately chose him because his name and image are so widely known that I figured he would easily be recognized by most people.
Carlson represents a side of the media that only a select group of the United States watches, and he is often attributed to several instances of spreading fake or inaccurate news to his audience. This type of behavior is quite similar to what Wonka did to the children portrayed in the film, where spreading fake news is the real-world equivalent of tricking the children.
In the recreated image, I decided to keep the top hat, suit (although a bit more professional), and the title’s text style so that someone could recognize those aspects from the original poster. The two most significant changes I made were changing Wonka to Carlson and changing the background to the FOX News studio. The first change was meant so that the viewer could quickly recognize a familiar face in Carlson, knowing that he was the face of FOX News. I then changed the background so that the notion of Carlson representing fake news is further emphasized, and then the altered movie title serves as a confirmation of what is being represented.
