About

Following in my Dad’s footsteps, becoming a lawyer was always a dream of mine. When I first arrived at USC, I declared as a political science major, determined to quickly get on the pre-law track. However, when I applied to the Daily Trojan’s photography desk on a whim and was accepted, I discovered a passion for journalism and, more significantly, documenting and recording events so that we could relive them in the future. From there, I transferred to the Annenberg School, declared as a journalism major, and now sit here as a member of ASCJ 200, a class filled with others who have similar passions.

For this class specifically, I simply hope to better be able to decipher the news, media, and journalism industry for what it is really worth. I hope to better understand what it means for the news to be on apps such as Instagram and TikTok where millions of people find themselves scrolling for hours upon hours. Does news on these sites really mean all that much anymore, at least compared to what journalism used to be in its print age?

Furthermore, I want to explore the different mediums of media and find out which ones I personally enjoy creating but also see which ones my classmates and society find more powerful or persuading. Given my background in photography, videography, and writing, I am curious to see if those forms of news are worthwhile or if there is another medium that I should be exploring more. My guess is that this portfolio will help me find answers to these questions and concerns.
